Clacton Pier is officially the largest pleasure pier in the UK. First opened in July 1871 as a landing stage for goods. The pier now boasts a selection of new and refurbished family fun rides, Seaqurium sealife centre, 10 Pin bowling, the boardwalk bar, American diner, loads of eating places, great fish and chips, an activity zone and a function room. A must see attraction in Clacton-on-Sea.

East Essex Aviation Museum

East Essex Aviation Museum

The East Essex Aviation Society and Museum has been housed in the historic Martello Tower at Point Clear. American P51-D Mustang of the US 479th Fighter Group that was forced to ditch into the sea off Clacton on the 13th January 1945, with the loss of the Pilot's life. The remains of this aircraft now take pride of place along with a memorial display to the Pilot. Flying Officer Raymond E King. Displays of uniforms, equipment, and items from the First World War, Second World War, Army, Navy, American Forces, The 479th Fighter Group, Home Front, Civil Defence, Royal Observer Corps, RAF, German, ATS and much more.

Jaywick Martello Tower

Jaywick Martello Tower built to defend against Napoleon Bonaparte and his armies. Is part of 29 nine defences built on the east coast of England. Explore the history of the tower through an exhibition hosted on the ground floor, as well as getting up close to a replica cannon, and enjoying wonderful views across the sea from the roof. Car parking is free and entry is by donation.
